Elapsed Time

Grade 2

In this video, students use a Cuisenaire Rod Clock, along with yellow and white Cuisenaire rods (see linked materials) to complete an elapsed time task: “Mrs. Smith’s class went on a field trip to the zoo. They left their school at 8:10 A.M. and arrived 45 minutes later. What time did they arrive at the zoo?”

Grade 4

In this video, the instructor guides students on how to use a centimeter based number line (90+ cm long), with yellow & white Cuisenaire rods (see linked materials) to complete an elapsed time task:

“Jamal makes macaroni and cheese. He begins making it at 6:05 P.M. and finishes at 6:40. How long did it take to make his food?”

Commutative Property of Multiplication

Grade 2

In this video, a group of 2nd graders are provided with a task that informally introduces them to the concept of the Commutative Property of Multiplication. Students are tasked with using only one color rod (one set length of rods) to cover a 7 by 8 array of 1cm dots. The majority of students either use eight black rods (7cm lengths) or seven brown rods (8cm lengths).

Grade 3

In this video, a group of 3rd graders are provided with a task that informally introduces them to the concept of the Commutative Property of Multiplication. Students are tasked with using only one color rod (one set length of rods) to cover a 7 by 8 array of 1cm dots. The majority of students either use eight black rods (7cm lengths) or seven brown rods (8cm lengths).

Distributive Property of Multiplication

Grade 3

In this video, third grade students are informally introduced to the Distributive Property when asked to cover a 13 by 6 array with exactly two colors of Cuisenaire rods.

Measurement

Grade 2

In this video, second grade students are completing a STEM activity where they are programming robots to study the concept of friction. In doing this, they are measuring the distance their robot travels (given different power parameters) using Cuisenaire rods and meter sticks.

Immersive 360 Video

This represents XRi’s first foray into multi-perspective 360 video. This pilot experience includes four different classroom recordings in the same app.

DIRECTIONS:
To navigate using your laptop/desktop, click on the camera icons to open a video experience and/or move from one place to another within a classroom. Within an experience, the house icon will take you back to the original entry screen and the play icon will pause/play the video. If viewing on a phone or VR Headset, a white dot will appear at the center of your view. Hover the white dot on top of each interactive icon to activate it (i.e., using gaze).
